Earlene Amendt

FRANCES EARLENE AMENDT, age 94 of Waseca died on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

Born on September 14, 1921 in Lead, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Earl and Lily Staples.  Earlene graduated from high school in Oilmont, MT.   Over the years, she lived in many places and worked primarily as a legal secretary.   She married Virgil Amendt on January 12, 1973.   Together they owned and operated a bar and restaurant on Vinegar Hill in Kilkenny for 15 years.   Earlene loved music and dancing and played the organ and accordion by ear.  She also enjoyed gardening.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca and the American Legion Auxiliary.  

She is survived by her husband, Virgil of Waseca; two daughters, Linda (Ray) Praska of Albion, IA and Kay (Jim) DeGrado of Marshalltown, IA; three step-sons, Greg Amendt of Des Moines, IA Scott (Theresa) Amendt of Des Moines, IA and Brad (Debra) Amendt of Iowa City, IA; 11 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.   She is also survived by two brothers, Bill and Jimmy.   She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Barbara Carter; and one sister.

No funeral services are planned at this time.
