Marjorie Ask

Marjorie Elizabeth Ask lived with a deep appreciation of every aspect of life. She saw the best in everyone and shared her memorable smile with all she encountered. She was always a good samaritan, using her prolific skills in crafts to create blankets for the less fortunate. Marj loved to travel and was always in amazement of the beauty in nature, which motivated her to pick up litter as she took walks with her family.

Marj was born in Bluffton, Iowa on August 12, 1923, to Edward and Leila Dinger. She grew up with much of her extended family, teaching her to deeply value family, and she was very close with her siblings, Clifford Dinger and Ruth Benson. While working as a waitress, she met her husband of 56 years, Harold Ask. Their love for each other followed them as they moved around the country.

After moving back to Iowa, their son Ward was born in 1944. Their young family moved frequently, eventually settling in Waseca in 1965. She managed Huneke Studios and the Yarn Shop before retiring. Her beloved grandchildren, Justin and Anna, were known to her as “Justonian” and “Annie.” She was deeply blessed to be “GG” to her great-grandchildren, Asher, Adeley, and Brooklyn.

Marj died peacefully on the morning of January 3. All who wish to celebrate Marj’s life are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Visitation will be an hour before the service and on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the church. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Rather than sending flowers, Marj requested that donations be made to Grace Lutheran for the congregation’s Pine Ridge outreach mission and quilting ministry.
