Connie Barrie

CONNIE RUTH BARRIE, age 76 of Waseca, died on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at her home in Waseca after her battle with cancer.

Born on November 14, 1942 in Slayton, Minnesota she was the daughter of Delbert and Ruth Anderson. Connie graduated from Westbrook High School and then attended business school before working at the First National Bank of Windom.  Connie married Robert Lee Barrie on January 28, 1961.  They moved to Waseca to make their home and together managed the Twilight Motel for 2 years. Connie was a homemaker and also did piece-work for Herter’s Inc. for eighteen years.  Bob and Connie started Barrie Archery in 1979 and continued to own and operate the business until their retirement in 1996.

Connie enjoyed word puzzles, playing cards and belonged to many different bridge clubs. 
Connie and Bob enjoyed traveling with their children and grandchildren.  They also enjoyed being snow birds traveling to Sarasota, Florida every year after their retirement.  The moments in life that brought Connie the most joy was spending time with her family.  She loved family gatherings and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. Connie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1961 and Waseca Lakeside Club since 1972.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bob of Waseca; two children, Janice (Tom) Hoverstad and Bruce (Dawn) Barrie all of Waseca; five grandchildren, Nick Hoverstad, Samantha Barrie, Rachel Hoverstad, Loral I Barrie and Bryce Barrie. She is also survived by her mother, Ruth Anderson of Windom; sister, Sandra Cassens of Bloomington; brothers, Keith (Karen) Anderson of Windom and John Anderson of Cannon Falls; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Derickson of Windom and Myron (Beverly) Barrie of Waseca; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father-Delbert Anderson, father and mother-in-law-Edmond and Synolla Barrie, sister-Judy Derickson, sister-in-law-Joan Anderson, and brother-in-law-Wayne Cassens.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.

Memorial are preferred to Mayo Hospice program.
