Joyce Chloe Hunter Bittrich

JOYCE CHLOE HUNTER BITTRICH, age 80 of Le Center, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Central Health Care in Le Center.

Born in Kent, England on January 18, 1935, Joyce was the daughter of Earnest and Sarah Kay (Mills) Hunter.  She graduated from the Church of England and met Robert A. Bittrich whom was stationed as a pilot at the Swindon Air Base at the end of the Korean War.  They were joined in marriage in Kent, England on November 7, 1953.  In 1954 they returned to the United States as a married couple where she started as an associate at the Citizens State Bank of Waterville.  She eventually became the first woman Postmaster of the City of Waterville.  She was blessed by three daughters, Susan, Shelley, and Tracy.  During her life she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, and her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed hobbies such as bridge and bowling.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Robert of Le Center; two daughters, Sue (Mark) Jensen of Springfield, MO, and Shelley (Dude) Fredrickson of Le Center; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Colin (Diedra) Taylor of England; three brothers-in-law, Harry Bittrich, Joe Bittrich, and Frank Ahlman; and four sisters-in-law, Esther (Jerry) Lamont, Linda Anderson, Debbie (Gayle) Hogan, and Barb Bittrich.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Tracy Bittrich; her sister, Val Jarvas; and her great-grandson Caleb Fredrickson.

Visitation will be held from 3-6 PM on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville with Rev. Juan Palm officiating.  Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery.
