Nolan C. Bluhm

NOLAN C. BLUHM, age 83 formerly of Waldorf, died on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at his residence at Colony Court in Waseca.

Born on July 28, 1931 in Waldorf, Minnesota, he was the son of Clarence and Leonora (Schroeder) Bluhm.  He graduated from Waldorf High School in 1949.  Nolan married Jeanette Kohnert on November 21, 1950 at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf.  He farmed for 16 years, worked as a custodian at Waldorf-Pemberton Schools for six years and drove bulk fuel truck for Bollman Oil for 23 years.  Nolan also drove school bus for 30 years.  He enjoyed his family, fishing and all sports – especially baseball which he played for 20 years.    He retired from all his jobs in 1998 to quiet times in Waldorf.

He was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Waldorf where he served on the church council as trustee, on the board of education and the finance board.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Waseca; two daughters, Cindy (Scott) Bratten of Lakeland and Sandy (Randy) Burmeister of Grand Forks, ND; and four grandchildren, Sarah (Tony) Mattes, Emily Bratten, Gregory Burmeister and Connor Burmeister.  He is also survived by sister-in-law, Janice Bluhm of Waldorf and brother-in-law, Jerry Kipp of Northfield.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David; one brother, Ronald; and one sister, Sharon Kipp.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf with Rev. Michael Mathews officiating.  Burial will follow at First Lutheran Cemetery in Waldorf.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.
