Bernard "Bud" Cole

BERNARD “BUD” EDGAR COLE, age 90 of Waseca, died at his home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

Born in Minnesota Lake on July 1, 1927, Bud was the son of Albert and Lula (Knight) Cole.  He attended rural Waseca County schools, and in 1945 began his service with the United States Army.  Following his honorable discharge, Bud began his career with the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad.  He worked his way up to engineer, retiring after 40 years.  He also worked in maintenance at Cole’s Salon for 22 years where the staff lovingly referred to him as “The Hammer.”  Bud married Lois Goeritz on June 28, 1946 in Morristown.  They lived happily together until her death in 1998.  He was later married to Betty Tano on December 3, 1999 in Burnsville.  He was a member of the Waseca VFW, Ducks Unlimited and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling and playing cards with friends.

Bud is survived by four sons, Denny (Sheri) Cole of Owatonna, Douglas (Anita) Cole of Prescott, WI, Dave Cole of Richfield, and Don Cole of St. Louis Park; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; siblings Kenneth Cole, Corless Cole, Louella Pitcher, Lola Pitcher, Loretta Storlie, Louise Osmundson, and Lorraine Stoltz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Giles Zimmer officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. 

Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.
