Sue C. Coy

SUE C. COY, age 78 of Waseca, died on Monday, June 24, 2013 at her home.

Born in Mankato on December 22, 1934, Sue was the daughter of Everett “Buck” and Lavilla “Pete” (Wilson) Weaver.  She attended and graduated from high school in Pemberton.  Sue had always wanted to pursue a nursing career, and she worked for a short time as a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester before beginning her family.  She later worked for Brown Printing in Waseca for twenty seven years.  Sue was a passionate volunteer for many causes, including Hospice, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Prison Fellowship, Contact Crisis Hotline, Hurricane Katrina relief, Tornado relief in Joplin, MO, and the Pals & Gals organization.  She also taught Sunday school and bible school for many years, was an adult tutor, traveled three times to Mexico on mission trips, volunteered at the Haggi Institute in Hawaii, volunteered at orphanages in the Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, and Russia, and spent twelve summers caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In 2006 Sue was awarded the Waseca County senior citizen of the year award.  She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waseca for over forty years, and will be dearly missed by all of her “extended family” there.

Sue is survived by five children, Michael (Cynthia) Coy of New Richland, Pamela Coy of Cohasset, Kim Born of St. Clair, Daniel Coy (friend Peggy Ferguson) of Grand Forks, ND, and Jeffrey (Doreen) Coy of Pemberton; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine (Gerald) Marten who are retired and live “on the road”, and Audrey Aanes of Anchorage, AK.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents; Clifford Coy; one daughter, Kathleen Frantum; and one brother, Charles Weaver.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Dennis Funeral and Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
