Lyle Cromer

LYLE LAWRENCE CROMER, age 82 of Waseca passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Colony Court Memory Care in Waseca surrounded by his family.

Born on July 31, 1931 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Lawrence and Mabel (Gehring) Cromer.  He graduated from Waseca High School in 1949.  Lyle was stationed in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Following his honorable discharge, he worked at various places in the Waseca area including Clausen Brothers Construction, E.F. Johnson Co. and Design Homes.  

Lyle married Virginia Ann Chester on December 12, 1953 at the Church of Christ in Faribault.   Lyle was an active member of many veterans’ organizations including AMVETS, the VFW where he served as commander, the American Legion, and the Cooties. He also served with the Honor Guard and the Memorial Day Association.  Lyle enjoyed dancing, playing cribbage and cards and was a member of the Waseca Senior Center.  He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca and the Waseca Softball Association where he was past president and had been an umpire.   Most of all, he loved his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Waseca; five children, Steve (Karen) Cromer of Shawano, WI, Charles Cromer of Minneapolis, Gail Danielson of Waseca, Kevin (Kelly) Cromer of Waseca, and Patrick Cromer of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.  He is also survived by one sister, Luella Root of Waseca.   Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 4-7 PM and continue on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Giles Zimmer officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
