Rodger D. Dahnert

RODGER DALE DAHNERT, age 81 of Waseca died peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.

Born on September 24, 1933 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Frank and Hilma (Peterson) Dahnert.  He graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1951.  On December 17, 1955, Rodger married Vada Ann Pippenger in Northwood, IA.  Rodger joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and was discharged in 1954.  In 1955 he joined the U.S. Air Force and was discharged in 1968.  In 1980 he joined the U.S. Army Reserve and retired in 1988.  Rodger’s hobbies included golf, family poker games, beating his son-in-law Mike at cribbage and going to the casino.  Rodger was also a fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.  He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #228 in Waseca.

Rodger is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vada; seven children, Dennis (Ana) Dahnert of Frederick, MD, Kathy (Mike) Johnson of Faribault, Ronald (Diane) Dahnert of Fernley, NV, Doreen (Jeff) Coy of Pemberton, Teresa (Tony) Dudley of Owatonna, Tim (Darla) Dahnert of Waseca, and Brad (Katie) Dahnert of Owatonna; 24 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by sister, Fern Papke; brother, Russell (Shirley) Dahnert; sisters-in-law, Margaret Dahnert and Dolores Dahnert all of Waseca.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, James Dahnert and Chris Dahnert; sister, Frances Jenniges; and brothers, Robert, Roland and Raymond Dahnert.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 4-8 PM and continue Sunday, one hour before services at church.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca.  Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
