Judith A. Deling

JUDITH ANN DELING, age 73 of Waseca passed away at her home on Friday, October 18, 2013.

Born on April 7, 1940 in Fairmont, Minnesota she was the daughter of Clarence and Verda (Wegner) Weiske.  After graduating from Madelia High School, she married John Deling on May 2, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville.  She worked for a short time at Federated Insurance in Owatonna before John was called to service with the military.  They lived together at Fort Carson, CO until returning to Waseca in 1961.  Judy’s greatest joy was providing a loving and warm home for her family.  She spent many years as a home maker, working at Waseca Mutual Insurance, Mishek’s and Brown Printing in between the births of her children.  She retired from Brown’s after 29 years.  She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca where she participated in the choir, Sunday School, several different bible studies, and many mission projects.  Judy was an incredibly creative and persistent person that enjoyed sewing, crafts, quilting, and needle work.  She played an important role in her grandchildren’s lives, both as a loving grandmother and role model.

She is survived by her husband, John of Waseca; four children, Lori (Randy) Loeffler of Waseca, Kevin (Diane) Deling of Janesville, Kraig (Kristi) Deling of Waseca, and Kristopher (Tracie) Deling of Elk Mound, WI; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by three siblings, Jon (Audrey) Weiske of Waseca, Jane (Dennis) Hager of Wabasha, and Mark (JoAnn) Weiske of Waseca.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Owatonna Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. David Baumgarn and Rev. Giles Zimmer officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
