Mary S. Denz

MARY SUE DENZ, age 66 of Waseca, died on Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester after a long and courageous battle with ALS.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 25, 1949, Mary was the daughter of John and Glennis (Fox) Tofte.  She graduated from Nathan Hale High School in West Allis, Wisconsin before attending college at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater.  On April 3, 1971 she married John “Jack” Denz in North Lake, Wisconsin.  Together they lived in Washington D.C., Milwaukee, WI, and Cambridge, MD before moving to Waseca in 1980.  While in Waseca, Mary worked as a para-professional for Waseca Public Schools until her health forced her to retire.  She loved spending time at the cabin with her family and many friends, decorating, and cooking.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.

Mary is survived by her husband, Jack of Waseca; three children, Karen (Kevin) Worden of Middleton, WI, Jeffery (Amy) Denz of New London, MN, and Christopher Denz of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Griffin and Parker Worden and Kyle and Natalie Denz; and two siblings, Beth (Steve) Prusila of Weyerhaeuser, WI, and Tom (Chris) Tofte of Racine, WI.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Rev. Gregory Leif officiating.
