Richard "Butch" Dufault

RICHARD “BUTCH” DUFAULT, age 71 of Waseca died on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Born on January 10, 1942 in Crookston, Minnesota he was the son of Joseph and Anna ( Regeimbal ) Dufault.  He graduated from Oklee High School in 1960 and St. John’s University in 1964 with a degree in music education.  He married Marilyn Bakke on December 26, 1964 in Oklee, Minnesota.  Butch taught for three years in Jeffers and eight years in Sherburn before moving to Waseca in 1975.  There he taught band for 19 years before retiring in 1994.  In his retirement he was active as a music clinician and judge.  Butch was highly committed to his family and church, Christ the King Lutheran Church.    

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Waseca; five children and their families, Todd Dufault of Waseca and his son Parker, Zoe (Tim) Robson and their children Alexis, Casey, Madelin, and Connor of Ankeny, IA, Monte (Leslie) Dufault and their children Nicholas, Alison, and Ryan of Waseca, Barry (Stacey) Dufault and their children Abbegail, Collin, Ella, and Callie of Waseca and Jared (Stacy) Dufault and their children Paige, Brody, Nolan, and Caleb of Waseca.  He is also survived by siblings, Jerome (Jane) Dufault of Grand Forks, ND, Irene (Vince) Cahill of Burnsville, Larry (Mary Lou) Dufault of New London, NH, and Eleanor (Lance) Dufault of Northfield; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Margaret Miller and Bette Brutger.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 3-8 PM at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Waseca.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Christ Community Church* in Waseca with Rev. Cary Larson officiating.  Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.  Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca is handling arrangements. 

*The change in venue between the visitation and funeral is not a mistake. Visitation will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Friday, and the funeral service will be held at Christ Community Church on Saturday.
