Arthur E. Friday

ARTHUR “ART” E. FRIDAY, age 97 of Waseca, died on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the Janesville Nursing Home.

Born in Estelline, SD on February 18, 1920, Art was the son of Edward and Augusta (Krenz) Friday.  As a young man he attended school in Ida Grove, IA, and following his graduation he attended Nettleton Community College and the University of Wisconsin to study banking.  Art married Doris Riswold on February 25, 1943.  From 1942 until 1946 Art served in the United States Navy.  He went on to spend over thirty years working at the National Bank of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, then twelve years at the Corporate offices of US Bank, and finally at Farm America in Waseca for two years.  Art’s first wife, Doris passed away in 1992.  In 1994 he was married to Anna O’Neil.  He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Waseca, and he enjoyed music, volunteer work, and woodworking.  In 2003 Art was selected as senior citizen of the year in Waseca County and statewide.  At one time he had been a member of the Elks Club, Lions Club, the Sioux Falls Credit Men’s Association, and the Crooks Gun Club in Sioux Falls. 

Art is survived by his wife, Anna of Waseca; two daughters, Cheryl Friday of San Diego, CA, and Dianne (Craig) Peterson of Grand Marais; a sister, Darlene (Jarvis) Boisen of Luverne; three step-children, Deberah Bartelt, Keith (Nancy) Schroeder, and Arlys (Craig) Youngberg all of Waseca; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and his first wife.

Visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the First Congregational Church in Waseca, with Rev. Cary Larson officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
