Donna Hammer

DONNA L. HAMMER, age 79 of Waterville, passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Donnavieve Luverne was born in Harrison Township, Minnesota on October 31, 1933 to Walter and LuElla (Heuer) Lindemeier.  After graduating from high school in Atwater, Minnesota, Donna worked for a short time in the Twin Cities before returning to Hutchinson, MN where she began working for Wrbitski Dental.  On September 17, 1955, Donna was married to Robert William Phillips in Hutchinson.    It was at that time she began working for Standard Printing in Hutchinson.  She later became one of the first employees of Hutchinson Technologies.  In 1973 Donna and Robert moved to Perham where they operated a bowling alley for four years.  Upon her return to Hutchinson, Donna began working for K-Mart, a career that she continued for 17 years.  It was during that time that Robert passed away in 1985.  Later, on June 21st, 1994 Donna was married to Gilbert Hammer in Cripple Creek, Colorado.  They made their home together in Hutchinson until Gilbert passed away.  Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church in Elysian.  She loved being with her family, crocheting, doing crafts, working crossword puzzles, and playing bingo and gambling at casinos.

Donna is survived by one son, Nick Phillips of Breezy Point; two daughters, Barb Phillips of Waterville, and Karen (Keith) Sperl of Elysian; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Phillips of New York Mills, Christopher Phillips of Pelican Rapids, Robert Phillips of Perham, Nicole Phillips of Fargo, ND, Ambria Morsching of Waterville, Corey Sperl of Elysian, Devon Sperl of Elysian, and Austin Sperl of Elysian; four great-grandchildren, Macy and Max Kjolonen, and Olivia and Hadley Phillips.  She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her beloved husbands; one sister, Lynette Peterson; and one granddaughter, Amber Horton.
