Douglas L. Hermel

DOUGLAS LEONARD HERMEL, age 64 of Waterville, died at his home on Tuesday, November 24, 2015.

Born in Faribault on March 15, 1951, Doug was the son of Leonard and Agatha (Meyers) Hermel.  He attended school in Waterville and was crowned the town’s homecoming king before his graduation.  Following school Doug enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country overseas.  Upon his return to the United States he was married and had his three daughters.  Doug farmed near Waterville with his brother for most of his life.  He was a former member of the Waterville VFW, and he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and watching television.

Doug is survived by three daughters, Jennifer (Richard) Jepson of Faribault, Jolene (Joel) Owens of Sunfish Lake, and Bethany Hermel and her fiancé Jimmy Brown of Minneapolis; seven grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; one brother, Lyle Hermel; one sister, Diane Linquist; and an infant son, William Hermel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Rev. David Mumme officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.  Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
