Melvin Jeddeloh

MELVIN E. JEDDELOH, age 89 of Waseca, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home.

Born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on November 3, 1923, Melvin was the son of Otto and Clara (Wenzel) Jeddeloh.  He attended country school in rural Waseca County before graduating from Freeborn High School in 1942.  Melvin continued his education graduating from the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis.  On August 22, 1945 he married Mary Lou Franzen at the Le Sueur River Lutheran Church in Waseca County.  As a younger man, Melvin worked at the Pillsbury Mill and the Waseca Journal.  His primary career, however, was working for Corchrans Inc. in Waseca.  He worked there for over thirty years – retiring in 1985.  In addition, he also did private accounting work for businesses and families in the community.  Melvin’s wife Mary Lou passed away Aug. 6, 1987 and he was later remarried to Bonnie Lewis on May 9, 1990 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.  He enjoyed a good card game, playing golf, taking winter trips to Arizona and was an avid baseball fan.  He was a member of the Waseca Golf Club, the Janesville Golf Club, and the Elks Club in Owatonna.  Melvin was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca where he was an active member of the church council for many years.

Melvin is survived by three sons, Larry (Ann) Jeddeloh of North Oaks, Terry (Laurie) Jeddeloh of Denver, CO, and Rick (Kirsten) Jeddeloh of Mankato; three step-sons, Jeffrey Lewis of Waseca, Jerry (Suzanne) Lewis of Waseca, and Brian (Susan) Lewis of Falcon Heights; six grandchildren, Sara Jeddeloh, Ben (Samantha) Jeddeloh, Katie Jeddeloh, Clara Jeddeloh, , Rob Thomas and Bethany Lewis; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Jeddeloh, Amy Jeddeloh and Ethan Thomas; and one special family friend, Craig Harris of Thousand Oaks, CA.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Mary Lou Jeddeloh and Bonnie Lewis, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dewey (Lila) Myers; and long time friend Paul Arveson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 2-5 PM at Dennis Funeral and Cremation Services in Waseca and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or to the Waseca Area Hospice. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Roger Haug officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca
