Wilma Jenson

WILMA CECELIA JENSON, age 93 of Waseca, died on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Lakeshore Inn in Waseca.

Born on July 22, 1922 on her family’s farm in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, Wilma was the daughter of Jesse and Elizabeth (McLain) Jenson.  Growing up, she attended Rock Valley School in Florida Township, MN before graduating in 1941 from Gary High School in Gary, SD.  She then attended Business College in Mankato.  Following her schooling she went on to work for Travelers Insurance in Minneapolis for 41 years.  After she retired she volunteered at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis.  In her later years, Wilma moved to Waseca where she resided at Latham Place for eight years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Wilma enjoyed politics and history, reading, spending time with family and friends, and all kinds of philanthropy.  She enjoyed assisting and providing for those in need throughout her whole life.

Wilma is survived by one brother, John Jenson of Gary, SD; her nieces and nephews, Steven (Kelly) Gilbertson of Minnetonka, Valorie (Allan) Rose of Waseca, Stuart Gilbertson and his special friend, Patty  of Colton, SD, Scott (Bonnie) Gilbertson of Alden, James Jenson of Gary, SD, Jesse (Rachel) Jenson of Moorhead, Melinda Jenson of Gary, SD, Richard (Erna) Harvey of Portland, OR, Marvel (Tom) Walker of Portland, OR, and Lynne (Charles) McIntyre of Portland, OR; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews and their families.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Leo (Jean) Jenson of Portland, OR; a sister, Josie (Donald) Gilbertson of Porter; and a sister-in-law, Irene Jenson of Gary, SD.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Rev. Gregory Leif officiating.  A visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church on Monday. 

A prayer service will then be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, August 10, 2015 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Gary, SD, with Rev. Robert Vinslauski officiating.  Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Gary, SD.
