Sylvia J. Krampitz

SYLVIA J. KRAMPITZ, age 79 of Waseca, died on March 25, 2018 in Mesa, Arizona.

Sylvia Jane was born June 1, 1938 in Morristown, MN to Harold and Mabel (Fratzke) Schwichtenberg. She was the 2nd of 8 children. Sylvia attended Waterville High School where she was a majorette and graduated in 1956. During high school her sweetheart was David Krampitz and they were married on May 18th, 1957.

Sylvia worked at Jacobson’s Hardware in Waterville and at EF Johnson Company.  Later she helped Dave with the start and success of the Service Garage. She was the secretary for the Waseca County fair for 20 years. They were happily married for 55 years until David’s passing in 2012.

Sylvia was a remarkable woman in many ways and seemed to be good at everything she tried. An amazing baker, she made custom cakes for many years including elaborate wedding cakes. She was a gifted artist in her porcelain painting and was skilled at all forms of needlework, no matter how complex.  She loved to share her gifts with people.

She sewed quilts and made lap robes for veterans and made dozens of hats for newborns. She was very generous with her talents. Sylvia had many friends through card club, golf, snowmobiling, the fair and church. She loved to travel, gamble, fish, golf, drink a cold beer and spend time with the family.  Sylvia was a life long Lutheran.

Sylvia passed away peacefully at her 2nd home in The Wells Senior Community, Mesa AZ on March 25th. She had fought a 17 month battle against lung cancer with courage, spunk and stubbornness, always saying “Why the hell not” and “Let’s GO FOR IT” when asked about taking additional treatments. She greatly appreciated the many people who helped her in any way through her long journey.
