Gary Kretzschmar

GARY JON KRETZSCHMAR, age 71 of Janesville, died on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at his home on Reeds Lake.

Born on July 4, 1943 in Minneapolis, Gary was the son of Ernst and Esther (Lande) Kretzschmar.  He graduated from Mankato High School in 1962 before attending Valparaiso University, Mankato State College, and serving in the United States Army.  He enjoyed fishing trips, duck hunting, swimming and water skiing, playing cards, watching Educational TV, and displaying at the Minnesota State Fair for many years.  He was self-employed as a salesman for stand-by power generators and air purifier systems.

Gary is survived by his brother, Alan (Vicky) Kretzschmar of Reeds Lake, a sister, Anita Vinje of Fargo, ND, one niece, Michele (Joe) Grose; five nephews, Scot (Connie) Kretzschmar, Dan (Kay) Vinje, Brady (Pam) Vinje, Chris (Renee) Vinje, and Michael (Rubie) Vinje; and many friends and business acquaintances.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, with Rev. David Mumme officiating.
