Bess R. Kritzer

BESS R. KRITZER, age 98 of Waseca died on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Born on November 18, 1916 in Steele County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of John and Winnefred (Stewart) Tuthill.  Bess graduated from Owatonna High School in 1935.  She went on to attend beauty school and worked as a beauty operator for a short time.  She married Dale H. Kritzer on November 14, 1938 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.  Following Dale’s discharge from the Navy, they returned to Waseca where Dale operated Kritzer Oil and Bess raised their sons and worked as a homemaker.   She enjoyed playing bridge, shopping, walking around Clear Lake, bowling and socializing with friends.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Bess is survived by two sons, John “Jack” and Barbara Kritzer of Prescott, WI and Patrick “Rick” and Carol Kritzer of Waseca; three grandchildren, Kelly Duxbury of Minneapolis, Collin and Megan Kritzer of Austin, TX, and Kimberlee Kritzer of Chicago, IL; and two great grandchildren, Maycie and Miles Kritzer of Austin, TX.   She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Beatrice (Bigelow) Tuthill; husband, Dale in 2003; son, Michael Kritzer; and brother, John Tuthill.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 1-4 PM and continue on Monday, one hour before services at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Father Gregory Leif officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
