Jim C. Kunelius

JAMES C. “JIM” KUNELIUS, age 61 of Waterville, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.

Born in Waseca on December 23, 1951, Jim was the son of John Elmer and Donitza “Dee” (Lumovich) Kunelius.  Following high school Jim attended Gustavus Adolphus College where he belonged to the Nu Upsilon Gamma Fraternity, played basketball, and earned a degree in biology with a minor in religion.  On December 31, 1975, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Anderson in Thief River Falls.  He went on to work for over 28 years as a Production Planner for R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Chanhassen.  He was a member of North Waseca Lutheran Church where he held various positions on the church council over the years.  Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman and was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and was an NRA life member.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary of Waterville; one daughter, Leigh (Randy) King of Caledonia; two sons, John (Jayme) Kunelius of Lonsdale, and David Kunelius and his girlfriend Jill Geisler of Mayer; four grandchildren, Megan King, Andrew Kunelius, Mason King, and Grant King; one brother, Don (Sue) Kunelius of Eagan; three nieces, Elizabeth (Jason) Namyst of Lakeville, Sara (Jon) Nelson of Salt Lake City, UT, and Caryn Anderson (Harry Sukamaran) of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and two nephews, Chris (Kelle) Anderson of Hudson, WI, and Chad Anderson of Brainerd.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his parents-in-law, Harvey and Ester Anderson; his brother-and-sister-in-law, Mark and Maureen Anderson; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
