Silas S. Kung SILAS S. KUNG, age 82 of Waterville died on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Pleasant Manor in Faribault. Born on November 11, 1933 in Hong Kong, Silas moved to St. Johns, Newfoundland in the early 1970s where he received his doctorate degree. He worked in the electronics field in San Francisco and Houston before settling in Minnesota in the 1990s. Silas was the co-founder of KG Technologies, where he pursued his passion of photonics and fiber optics. He is survived by his adoptive family, brothers, Bill and Violet Ping, Curt and Darlene Ping, and Jim and Sheila Ping; sister, Michelle and Scott Bart and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by dear family friends, Nancy and Steve McDermott and their children, Nathan, Katie, Michael, Stephen and Thomas. He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, William and Ethel Ping and brother, Bruce Ping. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville. Visitation will be held on Monday, one hour before services at the church. |
