Gerald LaMont

GERALD KENNETH LAMONT, age 83 of Waseca passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2018.

Gerald was born on November 8, 1934 in Waseca, Minnesota, the son of Floyd and Clara (Schwender) LaMont Sr.  He graduated from Waseca High School.  Gerald later married Esther Bittrich on February 5, 1955.  They were married for 63 years and raised three children, John, Jerrie, and Jacqueline.

Gerald served in the military and was stationed in Hawaii.  He later became a long shoreman in New Orleans, LA, worked at Birdseye and finally worked at Truth Hardware for 30 years before retiring in June of 1996.  He enjoyed reading, movies, casinos, and spending time with his family and two granddaughters, Haley and Alexus.  He also enjoyed traveling and riding motorcycle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Esther; children, John (significant other, Deb) LaMont, Jerrie Lynn (Jim) Anderson, and Jacqueline (significant other, Bobby) Tiegs; and two granddaughters whom he loved more than anything, Haley (significant other, Jake) Dawson and Alexus Tiegs.   He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, June Edwards; brother, Floyd Jr.; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 4-6 PM.

Private funeral services are being held for the family.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
