Darlene Larson

DARLENE M. LARSON, age 79 of Waseca died on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at her home in Waseca.

Born on July 25, 1938 in Freeborn County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Carol (Barber) Oakland.  Darlene attended school in Northwood, IA and married Broyce Larson on October 18, 1958 in Albert Lea.  She was employed with Sherwood Industries in Longmont, CO and later Realife in Waseca.  She also worked for Itron through the Waseca Senior Center for many years.   Darlene enjoyed bowling, cleaning, knitting, playing with her grandkids, gambling and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Broyce of Waseca; five children, Steve (Julie) Larson of Longmont, CO, Kendra Murphy of Marion, OH, Sandra (Will) Fehler of Bailey, CO, Darla (Gregg) McCartney of Longmont, CO and Keith (Andrea) Larson of Waseca; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.   She is also survived by siblings, Barb (Duane “Buzz”) Larson of Waseca, Dale “Okie” (Barb) Oakland of Brownsdale, Lavon (Greg) Bale of Battle Creek, MI, Raymond (Sandy) Oakland of Battle Creek, MI, Fran Dahlum of Myrtle, Dennis (Dianna) Oakland of Hayward, David (Diane) Oakland of Albert Lea, Vicki (Ronnie) Stricker of Northwood, IA, and Paul (Doris) Oakland of Fairmont; and many nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents; one son in infancy; one daughter, Theresa in infancy; and one brother, Luverne “Pete” Oakland.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4-7 PM and continue on Friday, one hour before services at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca.  Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
