Janice L. Lundeen

JANICE L. LUNDEEN, age 82, died on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Whispering Creek care facility in Janesville.

Born in Aitkin, Minnesota on September 12, 1937, Jan was the daughter of Victor and Edith (Erickson) Lundeen.  She attended Glory and Lone Lake country schools before graduating from Aitkin Public Schools in 1955.  Following her graduation, Janice moved to Minneapolis to work for the University of Minnesota.  Two years later, she accepted a position as Administrative Assistant at General Mills, where she worked over 41 years until her retirement in 1999.  Jan’s life was defined by thoughtful service to her family, neighbors, friends, and community.  From 1983 until 1988 she cared for her aging parents in her home, and “Auntie Jan” faithfully remembered and attended special events in the lives of her siblings, nieces, and nephews.  Her early years in Minneapolis at work and at First Baptist Church developed lifelong friendships.  She provided rides for friends to appointments and events until she was no longer able to do so.  Since retirement she volunteered at Bibles for Missions thrift store, drove for Dinner at Your Door, volunteered for five years at Fairview Hospital, and was actively involved with the “King’s Folk” group at New Hope Church.  Jan always spoke well of her neighbors and their mutual care and service for one another.  Jan spent the last years, March 2017 to January 2020, in the nursing home in Janesville, MN.

Jan is survived by her sister Joanne Berg of Waseca; her brother Howard (Carol) Lundeen of Waseca; and their families.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant sister Bonita; brother-in-law Gordon Berg; nephew Tim Berg; and dear life-long friends and relatives whom she is very eager to see again.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 17, 2020 at New Hope Church (4225 Gettysburg Avenue North) in New Hope, MN.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Diamond Lake Cemetery in Farm Island Township, Aitkin County.
