John E. Mack

JOHN E. MACK, age 83 of Waterville died peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2015 at his home in rural Waterville.

Born on April 4, 1932 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Howard D. and Gertrude (Weaver) Mack I. Following his father’s death, John helped his mother raise three small children.  He graduated from Waterville High School and began farming.  He was drafted and served during the Korean War and following his discharge, returned to the farm.  John married Lois Murker on October 6, 1962.  He was the owner of Mack Equipment Company, specializing in livestock feeding equipment.  He raised his family and they have made him proud. 

John enjoyed Chevrolet trucks and cars, John Deere equipment and tiling pot holes.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville, American Legion Post #311 in Elysian, and Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; two children, Howard “Chip” (Wanda) Mack II of Waseca and Andrea (Bernie Jr.) Mutzke of Ackworth, GA; four grandchildren, Howard D. Mack III, Thomas Steven Mack, Almalisa Katherine Mutzke, and Bernhard Mutzke III.  He is also survived by one brother, William (Diane) Mack of St. George, UT.   He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven John Mack; one daughter, Lisa Katherine Mack; one brother, Dr. Robert Mack; and one sister, Mary Mack.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Elysian.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at church. 

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Lisa K. Mack Scholarship at Iowa State University in Ames, IA.
