Dennis McDonough

Dennis Dean McDonough, age 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 22, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born in Waseca, MN on March 19, 1944, Dennis was the son of Arthur Linus McDonough and Roxanne Clare (Gaughan) McDonough. He graduated from Waseca High School before serving in the United States Army. He served 20 years including tours in Viet Nam, Korea and Germany.  Denny was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor Device for his service in Vietnam.  After his retirement from the Army, he relocated to Las Cruces, New Mexico before moving to International Falls, MN. He worked as a meteorologist  for the National Weather Service for seven years. Denny than moved to Camp Douglas, WI where he retired from the National Weather Service at Volk Field.

Denny was married to Linda Brusven on November 13, 1965. Together they have a daughter, Denise (Gregg) Ziemke, and a son Troy (Jennifer) McDonough. They have five grandchildren, Heather, Brittany, Nicholas, Mikayla and Jack. He married Helen ( Mohs)  Cummins on January 18, 1985. Children include Angel Cummins, Annette (Jeff) Kalbow, Rich (Carm) Cummins, Ann Marie Mohs, Heidi Cummins. Grandchildren Megan, Katie, Alysia, Sheldon, Kelsey, Jason, Christopher, Hanna, Kylee, Ashley, Jeremy, Richie and Nicole and several great grandchildren.

Denny enjoyed  being with his family, playing cards and going to the races. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a way of making people laugh. His laugh will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife Helen, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brothers Mike McDonough, Steve (Sherry) McDonough, Craig (Cheryl) McDonough, and his sister Peggy (Dave) Wecker ,  brother in law Dean Proechel, and sister in law Delores McDonough, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Maureen Proechel, a brother Merle McDonough and an infant son Brian Dean McDonough.

Private services are being held.  Burial will be at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
