Frank McKinzie

FRANK MCKINZIE, age 63 of Waseca died on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Born on August 31, 1952 in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the son of Allen and Dorothea (Shorter) McKinzie.  He graduated from high school in Reidland, Kentucky and later went on to study horticulture and landscaping at Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC).  Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1972 until his honorable discharge in 1988.  During this time he was stationed in numerous places throughout the world.  Following his discharge, Frank worked for the U.S. Post Office in Waseca.  Frank was united in marriage to Gloria (Dillon) Stencel on April 15, 1999.    In 2001, he enlisted with the National Guard and served until retiring in 2005.   Frank enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, running, working with flowers, and cheering for the Cleveland Indians and Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria of Waseca; ten children, Jeremy (Heather) of Coon Rapids, Frank M. (Jessica) of Boaz, KY, Chad (Carla) of Eden Prairie, Shalon (Tim) of Paducah, KY, Frank S. of Inver Grove Heights, Michael of Marengo, IA, Shane (Sherri) of Waseca, Travis of West Liberty, KY, Stefanie of San Antonio, TX, and Jessica (Kyle) of Aberdeen, SD; and 23 grandchildren.   He is also survived by two brothers, Tommy (Shelly) of Texas and Allen (Jennifer) of Arizona; and half-sister, Barbara.   He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Rueben Dendy; and brother, Tooley McKinzie.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 6:00 PM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home.
