Evangeline "Vangie" Miller

EVANGELINE “VANGIE” MILLER, age 92 of Waterville, formerly of Kilkenny died on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

Born on April 20, 1921 in Waseca County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Albert and Helen (Hager) Stangler.  She attended school in rural Le Sueur County before graduating from Waterville High School in 1940.  She married the love of her life, Gordon Miller on June 30, 1941.  Vangie worked for Leuthold Clothing in Waterville for 26 years.  Following Gordon’s retirement, they began wintering in Apache Junction, AZ for 20 years.  Vangie enjoyed playing cards, watching the MN Twins, sewing, camping, and dancing.  She was a member of St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny and the Rosary Society and the American Legion Auxiliary for over 60 years.  Vangie was a DAC coffee partner for many years and also volunteered at the nursing home.

She is survived by three children, Jerry and Linda Miller of Kilkenny, Lynn and Margo Miller of Longmont, CO and Karen and Gene Morris of Waterville; five grandchildren, Kris Miller, Jerry Miller, Amy (Luke) Gohlike, Chad (Amy) Miller and Jeff Morris; and five great grandchildren, Aiden and Matthew Miller, Gavin Gohlike, and Addy and Ike Miller.  She is also survived by one brother, Norman and LaVerne Stangler of Waterville and one sister, Gladys Culhane of Faribault and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 4-7 PM and continue on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny.
