Gene D. Morris

GENE DAVID MORRIS, age 69 of Waterville died on Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home in Waterville.

Born on February 9, 1949 in Faribault, Minnesota, he was the son of Melvin and Edna (Sorgatz) Morris.  He graduated from Waterville High School in 1967 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam from 1969 until 1972.  Following his discharge, he attended Mankato Vo-Tech.   Gene married Karen Miller on September 21, 1974.   He was employed at Fahnings and Blowers Construction.  He later worked for the E.F. Johnson Co./Emerson in Waseca until his retirement in 2012.  Gene enjoyed camping, bowling, and spending time outdoors.   He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville and served on the board of Sakatah Cemetery.    He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Waseca.

Gene is survived by his wife, Karen of Waterville; one son, Jeffrey Morris of Minneapolis; siblings, Dennis (Ellen) Morris of Waterville, Sharon Hansen of Waseca, Pamela (Michael) Gentle of Waseca, Brenda Morris of Waterville, and Karla Meier of Waterville; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Linda) Miller of Kilkenny and Lynn (Margo) Miller of Longmont, CO; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 3-6 PM and continue on Monday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.  Burial will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
