Fern Papke

FERN MARIE PAPKE, age 96 of Waseca died on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Elim Care & Rehab Center in Princeton.

Born on September 21, 1921 in Waseca, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Frank and Hilma (Peterson) Dahnert.  Fern attended Waseca High School.  She was employed at Herter’s and also owned and operated The North End and Sprengeler’s Restaurant.  Fern also worked at the Neighborhood Service Center and Waseca Hospital.  She enjoyed embroidery, camping, visiting with her friends, and sitting in the sun.  Fern was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Jim (JoAnn) Larsen of Waseca, Judi Szyszka of Eagan, Bob (Cheryl) Larsen of Coon Rapids, Linda (Randy) Hood of Brainerd, Rick (Deb) Papke of Germantown, WI, Mike (Ruth) Simmons of Pillager, and Kim (Tim) Matz of Princeton; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Fern is also survived by one brother, Russell (Shirley) Dahnert of Waseca; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Dahnert and Vada Dahnert both of Waseca; and many nieces and nephews.    She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Brenda Larsen; brothers, Robert, Raymond, Roland, and Rodger; and sister, Frances Jenniges.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 1-4 PM.  Private graveside services will be held at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
