Delvin W. Potucek

DELVIN WILLIS POTUCEK, age 82 of Waseca, Minnesota formerly of Warren, Minnesota died on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

Born on September 26, 1932 in Comstock Township, Marshall County, Minnesota, he was the son of Charlie and Laura (Riebow) Potucek.  He attended school in rural Comstock Township.   Delvin served in the US Air Force from 1951 until 1955 where he was stationed in Germany as a heavy equipment operator and helped build Ramstein Air Force Base Flight Line.  He married Elaine Danielson on November 30, 1957 in Alvarado, MN.  They made their home in Warren where Delvin worked for the City of Warren on the Street Department.  He was also a volunteer fireman for 25 years and sold granite for Little Falls Granite Co.  Delvin was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Warren where he served as church president and trustee.  He also served on the board and was past president of the Marshall Co. Historical Society and a member of the MN Deer Hunters Association of Thief River Falls.   He enjoyed his horses, deer hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Waseca; four daughters, Maridel (Bruce) Sandberg of Lakeville, Marcia (Joe) Tarasewicz of Maple Grove, Becky (Tim) Dennis of Waseca, and Brenda (Jeff) Schulte of Brentwood, TN; 20 grandchildren, Laura Unruh, Ruthie Douvier, Theo Sandberg, Josh Sandberg, Daniel Sandberg, Isaac Sandberg, Grace Sandberg, Kaylee Sandberg, Scott Potucek, Matthew Fischer, Erica Dennis, Kjerstin Dennis, Corinne Dennis, Caleigh Dennis, JennaRae Patton, Jay Schulte, Jessica Schulte, Anna Kaye Schulte, Drew Schulte, David Schulte; and 14 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by one brother, Chuck Potucek of Salem, OR; one sister-in-law, Dale Potucek of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Joye and Olger Olson; brother and sister-in-law, Jerome and Lorraine Potucek; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Joan Potucek; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Potucek.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 PM evening prayer service at Zion Lutheran Church in Warren and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warren with Rev. David Laue officiating.  Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Warren.
