Richard Donald Preuss

RICHARD DONALD PREUSS, age 70 of Waseca died on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Foxdale in Waseca.

Born on March 10, 1949 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Donald and Marcaline (Wees) Preuss.  He graduated from Waseca High School in 1967 and later Dunwoody.  He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1969 and was stationed in Okinawa until 1970.  While stationed at Luke Air Force Base, Rick met Carol Powell and they were married on December 3, 1971 in Phoenix, AZ.  Following his discharge in 1973, they returned to Waseca where he operated Preuss Bake Shop until 1994.  He then worked for C&S Vending in Faribault, the bakery in WalMart in Owatonna and at Hy-Vee in Waseca until retiring in 2011.  He enjoyed family get togethers and trips to Canada with his parents.  Rick also enjoyed baking, photography, fishing, hunting, gardening, collecting coins, and collecting stamps.  He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca and the American Legion in Waseca.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Waseca; three children, Jeffrey Preuss and partner Jose of Mankato, Lianne Possin and her husband, Brent of New Richland, and Lisa Preuss and fiancé Ryan Bruhn of Waseca; grandchildren, Bayli Possin, Kyra Possin, Lyncin Torres, Braxtyn Possin, Xavyer Torres, Tevyn Gerdes, Morgan Bruhn, Mallory Bruhn, and Ava Bruhn.  He is also survived by his brother, Tim Preuss of Owatonna; sister, Julianne Bock and her husband, Bruce of Waseca; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David; brother-in-law, Joe Kahl; and niece, Heather Kahl.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of services at the church.   Burial will be at Woodville Cemetery at a later date.
