Myron "Mike" Ptacek

MYRON “MIKE” PTACEK, age 78 of Harmony, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.

Born on October 13, 1936 in Steele County, Minnesota, he was the son of John J. and Elizabeth (Wanous) Ptacek.  He married June Vaith in December of 1957 and they were later divorced. He married Lois (Berg) Anderson on May 14, 1993.  Mike had served in the National Guard and had helped his sister and brother-in-law seasonally doing farm work.   He then worked at the Owatonna Elevator and later as a truck driver with Yellow Freight.  Mike enjoyed deer hunting, collecting John Deere toy tractors, going to auctions and flea markets and wood working.  He was also an avid trap shooter.  He was a member of the Owatonna Gun Club and the NRA. 

He is survived by his wife, Lois of Harmony; one daughter, Penny (Les) Humpel of Owatonna; two step-sons, Randy (Dianna) Anderson of Stillwater and Richard (Lori) Anderson of Owatonna; six grandchildren, Amy (Dan) Anselment, Andrew Carroll, Taryn Anderson, Kristy Anderson, Chris Anderson and Nicholas Anderson; and seven great grandchildren.  He is also survived by one sister, Sharon (Jerry) Katzung of Owatonna; one sister-in-law, Eileen Ptacek; and seven nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene Ptacek.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery.   Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour before services at the funeral home.
