Gladys E. Richter

GLADYS E. RICHTER, age 99 of Waterville died on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

Born on March 4, 1916 in Elysian Township, LeSueur County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Arthur and Esther (Roemhildt) Zellmer.   She attended St. Peter’s Parochial School and high school before attending art school in Mankato.   Gladys married Walter Richter on October 12, 1937 at St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church.   They lived in Trimont and Albert Lea before returning to Kilkenny and later Waterville.  Gladys was a talented artist, and she enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and crocheting and playing cards.    She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.

Gladys is survived by several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews and other extended relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.   Burial will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church.
