Geraldine G. "Geri" Roemhildt

GERALDINE G. “GERI” ROEMHILDT, age 83 of Waseca, died on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Upsula, Minnesota on August 15, 1935, Geraldine was the daughter of Roy and Mary (Marcinho) Carlson.  She was raised in Columbia Heights by her uncle and aunt, Leo and Hedrie Zarn.  She graduated from Columbia Heights High School before graduating from the Minneapolis General Hospital School of Nursing in 1956.  On September 12, 1959 she married Kenneth Roemhildt in Columbia Heights.  She worked for a few years as the Waseca County Public Health Nurse until she began raising her family.  She then worked helping her husband on the family farm.  She was active with many church activities at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, and she enjoyed gardening, baking, traveling, fishing, swimming, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Geraldine is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Waseca; four children, Dan (Debbie) Roemhildt of Janesville, James (Catherine) Roemhildt of Lakeville, Maria Roemhildt of Burlington, VT, and Bill (Stephanie) Roemhildt of Waseca; eight grandchildren, Brian, Gregg, Lisa, Ali, Taylor, Carter, Chloe, and Claire Roemhildt; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Griffin, Cole, and Makenna Roemhildt.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary; her uncle and two aunts who raised her, Leo, Hedrie, and Alma Irene Zarn; two brothers and their wives, Ronald (Lois) Carlson, and Duane (Judy) Carlson; and one granddaughter, Laura Roemhildt.

Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Giles Zimmer officiating.  Interment will follow at St. John’s Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County.
