Janelle Marie Roemhildt

JANELLE MARIE ROEMHILDT, age 71 of Waseca, died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at her home after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Janesville on December 25, 1945, Janelle was the daughter of Irving and Ida Mae (Calcutt) Lau.  She attended grade school in Alma City before moving on to graduate from Waldorf-Pemberton Schools.  On August 29, 1964 Janelle married Robert Roemhildt at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waseca.  After her marriage to Bob she worked at Farmer’s National Bank in Waseca.  After she left the bank, she raised a family of five children on the family farm northwest of Waseca.  She re-entered the workforce after her children were older, working for Waseca County until her retirement from the Waseca County License Bureau.  Janelle enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, church activities, traveling and taking annual trips to Branson, taking farm tours, and attending her grandchildren’s events.  She was a long-time active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waseca, where she was involved in the Cotta Guild, the choir, the quilters, was a part-time church secretary, and played organ for many years.

Janelle is survived by her husband, Robert of Waseca; five children, Carol (LaVern) Sletten, Thomas (Teresa) Roemhildt, Jodi (Robert) Kubat, Becky Roemhildt, and Tim Roemhildt; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.  She is also survived by two siblings, David (Marlene) Lau of Pemberton and Duane (Loretta) Lau of Janesville.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Alvin and Blanche Roemhildt; and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from 4-8PM on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. David Baumgarn officiating.  Interment will follow at St. John’s Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township.
