Geraldine "Gerry" Schweim GERALDINE ANN SCHWEIM, of Janesville, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Whispering Creek in Janesville at the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 30 days. Born at her lifetime family home in Janesville Township, Geraldine was born November 11, 1932, the daughter of John and Erna (Jacobshagen) Schweim. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. She also attended Trinity Lutheran School as a child. She grew up on the family farm and took over its operation when her father’s health declined. Following were 52 years of milking cows and nurturing the land entrusted to her care. Being outside in fresh air and working with her hands brought contentment to her life. Always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, she gained the respect of many who knew her. Geraldine is survived by her sister, Ruth Kolander; her sister-in-law, Ellen Schwiem; and many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Delores; and two brothers, David and Harold. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. Paul Muther and Rev. Brian Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of the service at the church. Interment will follow at Smith’s Mill Cemetery. |
