Born on her parent’s farm in Elysian Township, Le Sueur County, Edna was the daughter of Louis and Alma (Geisler) Quiram.  Edna started in the country school and then attended St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Parochial School before going on to graduate from Waterville High School in 1957.  Edna was married to Herb Volkmann at her home church, St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran on June 11, 1958.  She worked as a full time homemaker for many years, including twenty years as a “4-H Mom” and at least 17 years as a “Band Mom”.  When her children were old enough, then she worked outside her home.  She spent a total of 26 years working for Brown Printing in Waseca.  She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and gardening.  She had a great love for quilting and her involvement in the Elysian Area Quilters.  At last count, she had stitched (and then given away) over 1200 quilts in her lifetime.  She was a member of both Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elysian and St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran in Le Sueur County, where she was active with the Lutheran Women’s Mission League.

Edna is survived by her husband, Herb Volkmann of Waterville; six children, Lynda (Mike) Goerisch of Robbinsdale, Norman (Rita) Volkmann of Janesville, Gerald (Jennifer) Volkman of Eagan, Brenda (Daniel) Tonn of Elysian; Jeffrey (Susan) Volkmann of Liberty, MO, and Larry (Cheryl) Volkmann of Bloomington; nineteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by three siblings, Kenneth (Carol) Quiram of Le Center, Warren Quiram of Dillingham, AK, and Roger (Judy) Quiram of Elysian; and many in-laws; nieces; nephews; and friends.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents; four siblings, Noel Quiram, Vera Enter, Dennis Quiram, and Dale Quiram; one grandson, Nicholas Tonn; and one great-grandchild before birth, Baby Kolling.

Visitation will be held from 3-7PM on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the same church where she was baptized, confirmed, married, and now buried – St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church in Le Sueur County.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
