Ruth M. Waber

RUTH MAE WABER, age 92 of Waseca, died on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Janesville Nursing Home.

Born in Elysian on May 12, 1921, Ruth was the daughter of Daniel and Evelyn (Ewing) Terrell.  As a young woman she attended and graduated from school in Madison Lake.  Ruth was then married to Leonard Waber.  They later divorced.  Ruth was a devoted employee at Bird’s Eye Foods in Waseca, where she worked as a microbiologist for over 57 years.  She was nearly eighty years old by the time she finally retired.  She loved to follow the Minnesota Twins and was Kirby Puckett’s biggest fan.  She was a kindhearted volunteer for many in need – assisting the elderly as well as many young families over the years.  Ruth loved horses, and was involved with the Waseca County Fair Board for many years in addition to managing the County Horse Barn.  She loved to share her knowledge of horsemanship with others and was very involved with 4H.  She was also a long time a member of the Waseca American Legion Auxiliary.

Ruth is survived by two siblings, Lee (Sandy) Terrell of Eagle Lake, and Donna Dvoracek of Walker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews spanning three generations.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents; one daughter, Marlene Waber; two brothers, Ralph and Daniel Terrell; one sister-in-law, Margaret Terrell; and one brother-in-law, Dale Dvoracek.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at North Waseca Lutheran Church with Rev. Nancy Hansen officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.  Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca is handling the arrangements.
