Robert Edward Wachter

ROBERT EDWARD WACHTER, age 87 of Janesville, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Janesville Nursing Home.

Born in St. Paul on August 8, 1931, Robert was the son of Henry and Claribel (Schlomka) Wachter.  He grew up in St. Paul and attended Mechanic Arts School before serving his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict.  Following his honorable discharge he began what would become a lifelong love of professional driving.  From fuel trucks to school buses, from milk trucks to mail trucks, Robert enjoyed every mile.  He also worked for Koch Industries as an operator on the pipeline for several years and most recently he had been a courier for Quest Diagnostics.  He was also a gifted woodworker.  Robert was married to Shirley Morrison on Valentine’s Day in 1952.  They raised their family and lived their life together until Shirley passed away in 1987.  On November 21, 1989 Robert married Carol Dunlap and they have continued to care for their families while keeping their home in Janesville ever since.

Robert is survived by his wife, Carol of Janesville; two children, Jeffrey (Janet) Wachter of Rosemount and Jill (Bruce) Gibis of Eden Prairie; three step-children, Linda (Philip) Pesheck of Sundance, WY, Bob (Denise) Hohrman of Eden Prairie, and Jeff (Missy) Hohrman of Fergus Falls; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanette Swenson of Lynn Haven, FL; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley; and one brother, Lester Wachter.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  Dennis Funeral Homes in Waseca is handling the arrangements.
