Charles C. Wandersee

CHARLES CONRAD WANDERSEE, age 85 of Waterville died on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at his residence in Waterville.

Born on September 2, 1928 in Morgan, Minnesota he was the son of Walter P. and Frances L. (Unzeitig) Wandersee.  He graduated from Bird Island High School and later Delta College in Stockton, California.  Charles served in the US Navy from 1947 until 1967.  During his time in the service, Charles was able to travel to all US Naval Ports.  He spent 14 months in the Antarctic in ‘Operation Deep Freeze”.  He also traveled to Australia, Libya, North Africa, Spain, and many other places.  Following his discharge, Charles continued working for the US Navy teaching telecommunications.  He moved to Glenview, IL where he met his friend, June McGee whom he spent 30 years with before her death.  Charles moved to Waterville in 2009 to be closer to family and friends. 

Charles was a 33 year member of AA.  He was also a sponsor for many individuals and was a guest speaker in different areas.  He enjoyed getting together with family and loved home cooked meals.  Charles also enjoyed playing golf and had worked at the Naval Golf Course in Glenview, IL.

He is survived by his children, Daniel Wandersee of Eureka, California, Kim Wandersee, Kathy Moeller, and Kristie Wolfe all of Sacramento, California; grandchildren, Daniel (Carly) Wandersee Jr., Hava (Aaron) White, Carly Thomas, and Natlie Wagner; and 3 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by siblings, Mary Rome of Apache Junction, AZ, Jane Keith of Mankato, Lorraine (Bob) Harty of Cannon Falls, Darlene Anderson of Apache Junction, AZ, and Richard (Phyllis) Wandersee of Tavares, FL; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Mike, Charles and Jack Wandersee; special friend, June McGhee; one brother, James Wandersee; and brothers-in-law, George Keith and Larry Anderson.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville with Rev. Michael Ince officiating.  Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 11:45 AM.
