Dale Wegner

DALE EVERETT WEGNER, age 81 of Waseca died on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at his home.

Born on November 26, 1937 in Redwood County, Minnesota, he was the son of Russell and Opal (Carlson) Wegner.  He graduated from Lamberton High School and went on to serve in the US Navy from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1961.  While in the navy, he was stationed on the USS Hancock.  Following his discharge, Dale traveled to Colorado and New Mexico where he worked various jobs while enjoying his travels.  He attended the Humboldt Institute and worked at Gould National Battery in St. Paul, Gold Bond Stamp and ADM in Minneapolis.  Dale married Cindy P. Hendrickson on March 14, 1964 at Albion Lutheran Church in St. James.  Dale moved to Waseca with his family in 1968 and opened the Pizza Parlor and built the Yellow Mushroom Restaurant in 1974 which he operated until 2005.  He was an entrepreneur opening various businesses over the years. 

Dale loved music and went dancing as often as he could with Cindy.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, trips all over the states vacationing with family, and road trips with Cindy.  Cookie the pug loved walks with Dale.  He loved feeding the birds, reading, learning and thoroughly loved life.  Dale followed his grandsons in all their sporting events and kept up with the Twins and Vikings.   He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, Rotary Club, AA, Men in Mission, and the Masons.   We will miss him very much.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cindy; two children, Dee (Darin) Milbrett and Tony Wegner all of Waseca; four grandsons, Nick Milbrett, Sam Milbrett, Jack Milbrett, and Beau Milbrett; and two great grandchildren.  He is also survived by sisters, Janet (Arnie) Uhlig of Palatine, IL and Marie (Ken) Mace of Milwaukee, WI.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
