Evalyn F. Williams

EVALYN F. WILLIAMS, age 92 of Waseca, died on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the New Richland Care Center.

Evalyn was born on April 8, 1924, to Ed and Grace Brockus in Skiatook, Oklahoma.

Evalyn moved with her parents, two brothers and two sisters from Skiatook, OK to Sandpoint, Idaho in the early 1930’s, where she finished grade school and high school.

She graduated from high school on May 21, 1942, and was married to Donald S. Williams that same day. They moved to Bremerton, Washington after the wedding.

In December of 1943 her son Merlin was born. After Don joined the army in July of 1944, she and Merlin moved back to Sandpoint. She provided day care for Merlin and her niece Janice while her twin sister Eva worked to try to make ends meet. After the war she and Don continued to live in Sandpoint. In the fall of 1948 the family moved to Moscow, Idaho, where Don attended the University of Idaho. She worked part time while Don was in college. The family moved to Boise, Idaho, after Don graduated in February of 1952. Her daughter Jere was born there. During their 12 years in Boise, Evalyn worked most of the time as a bookkeeper and secretary for several local businesses. In the mid 60’s the family moved to the Dallas area for a few years and then on to Minneapolis. While in Minnesota, Evalyn worked as administrative assistant to Curtis Carlson of Carlson in Minnetonka. Evalyn and Don again moved to Dallas for a couple of years and retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1984. While in Arkansas, Evalyn started another career, purchasing a retail clothing store and operating it for a number of years. She and Don moved to Waseca, MN in 2005.

Evalyn enjoyed interior decorating, water color and oil painting, and reading.

In Bella Vista she attended the Community Church, and in Waseca she attended Faith Baptist Church when her health allowed her to attend.

Evalyn is survived by her daughter, Jere, and her son Merlin and his wife Laura. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Don, her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Memorial services will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 3 p.m. with Deacon Merlin Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
